Trainers 4 Change
T4C (Trainers 4 Change) are a group of people with learning disabilities who deliver Person Centred Planning training.
They were formed in 2004 as a volunteer group to provide training to staff members on Person Centred Planning from the individuals own perspective.
The group undertook a 'Train the Trainer' course provided by NIACE (The National Institute of Adult Continuing Learning) to become a qualified training group and upon completion, after a period of 18 months, they all received an Open College Network qualification.
Trainers 4 Change are now made up of a core group of individuals and they are currently developing new training in key areas such as The Mental Capacity Act, Great Interactions, Bullying and Keeping Safe, Linkworking and Person Centred Approaches.
The training the group provides continues to be very well received by both internal and external audiences.
In addition to standardised training provision, T4C have also delivered sessions in a conference environment, most recently at Macintyre’s 'My Life: My Plan' conference held at Birmingham's Botanical Gardens in May 2007.
T4C are supported on a needs led basis, the group effectively running itself. They meet weekly to discuss improvements and developments to their training and are also available to the wider audience as an external training resource.
