In Derbyshire MacIntyre supports 140 people with a learning disability.  As part of our offer we have been delivering the programme “Keeping People Safe” since 2009. This programme is supported by Derbyshire County Council and Derbyshire Police.

The programme aims to support adults with a learning disability to recognise and tackle Hate Crime and enhance their community safety.

We deliver workshops on:

  • Mate Crime – Pretend / Friend Workshops
  • Keeping Safe
    • Keeping Safe when walking
    • How to handle bogus callers
    • Who can help me
    • Keeping Safe top tips
    • Choice and Control
    • The law

MacIntyre’s Keeping People Safe programme has been a partnership project right from the outset overseen by a steering group (Hate Crime and Staying Safe Project Steering Group) which comprises of key stakeholders including people with a learning disability, Derbyshire County Council, Derbyshire Police and MacIntyre staff.

Reps on Board have their own website which details the work they do and what they have achieved.
