Path Tool

Path is not a tool used to gather information it is a focussed planning tool. It focuses on the process of positive change and direct planning, encouraging immediate action to be taken.

Path requires a meeting, it assumes that the people who are involved in the planning process are committed to the individual. If the individual cannot clearly describe their dream or if they do not use words to communicate, it is important that key members care about the individual and know them well so they can have input and clearly describe dreams on their behalf.

Meetings are often powerful and can be emotional, members often discover new things about the individual, members should fully support and encourage the individual to strive to achieve their dreams.

Path requires a skilled facilitator, who knows the individual well to ensure that the dreams are those of the individual and not those of the members.

It is a useful tool to use to re focus an existing team who are perhaps feeling stuck, it can be used to assess and identify individuals dreams. The outcome of the meeting should identify direct actions to work towards achieving these dreams set out clear actions for a change in direction.
