Darley Cottage is one of our registered care homes in Chester providing support for six adults with a learning disability. Following a recent unannounced inspection in June, we are proud that the service retained its overall CQC rating of ‘Good’ and was considered to be ‘Good’ in all separate areas of assessment. The report praised the service both for its comprehensive coverage of staff training and attention given to care plans and policies as well as commenting on the Great Interactions between staff members and the people they support.
On the training of staff, inspectors were satisfied that training had been received regularly and that an annual plan for forthcoming training was available. The inspector spoke to four out of five people living at Darley Cottage and directly quotes them as stating; “I really like the staff, the staff are great.”
The report also credits the independence given to the residents of Darley Cottage and praises the emphasis on personal choice. The report states:
“Interactions between people who used the service and staff were informal and friendly. People were seen regularly joking with the staff team and a relaxed atmosphere was noted throughout our visit. Staff sought to support people in a manner which was focused entirely on the wishes of individuals and support was focused entirely on their needs.”
Our Frontline Manager at Darley Cottage, Sandi Earlam commented:
“I am so pleased with the results and the outcome of this report and I am so proud of the team at Darley Cottage; it is a reflection on the people we support and how well and healthy they are. We will all endeavour to achieve Outstanding in the next CQC assessment!”
Well done to everyone at Darley Cottage! For more information, please get in touch with our Compliance Team – email@example.com.
