One of our services in Buckinghamshire, The Cherries, was rated ‘Good’ by CQC following an inspection at the end of last year. The Cherries is a residential care home for seven people with learning disabilities.
The report was full of praise for staff and how the people supported at The Cherries were provided with care, choice and control of their lives. It said:
“People were supported to have maximum choice and control of their lives and staff support them in the least restrictive way possible. There was a clear culture among the staff to support people to achieve their potential and live the life they choose without barriers.”
The inspector found that the people supported at The Cherries continued to receive safe care. Comments included:
“The staff make sure I am safe.”
“I like living here, it’s good.”
“He has come on no end since he went into The Cherries.”
“Staff are the best you could ask for, they do a brilliant job.”
“It’s a beautiful place, everyone is so happy. I wouldn’t want my son to be anywhere else. He is so wonderful now, when he first moved into the home he did not have a lot of speech. I am now able to speak to him on the phone.”
Caroline Bradley, Frontline Manager at The Cherries, said:
“This is my first inspection as a Registered Manager. The staff team at The Cherries has worked very hard over the past year to achieve positive outcomes for the people we support. Myself and everyone at The Cherries are delighted with the CQC report and our rating.”
