Our Chief Executive Sarah Burslem will be attending the annual BILD Conference in Birmingham as a Keynote speaker.
The conference is set to celebrate good practice and provide a forum for discussion as delegates seek to tackle the big issues in the field of learning disabilities at both a local and national level.
In particular, Sarah will be hosting an afternoon session, ‘Lives not services’, in which Sarah will reflect on the challenges currently facing disabled people and the wider social care sector. She will go on to consider the collective responsibilities for ensuring that we remain ambitious and not let progress slip with regards to disability rights and equality. This collective responsibility extends to ensuring that disabled people live fulfilling lives and are not passive recipients of “services”. Sarah will also be sharing some of MacIntyre’s history and areas of current focus.
On speaking at the conference, Sarah comments:
Being part of this event is a great opportunity and I’m thrilled to be included in the line up amongst the other speakers. The learning disability sector is currently facing several significant challenges and I’m confident that this conference will uncover some of the key ways that best practice can not only change the way the sector operates, but also transform lives.”
It’s set to be an insightful day, and we look forward to hearing the thoughts and visions of those attending the conference. If you have any questions for Sarah before the conference, please get in touch.
