In the 2019 LeDeR report, it was highlighted that “constipation is undoubtedly a significant problem for people with learning disabilities [since] 23% of completed reviews identified constipation as a long-term health problem and 33% reported that the person was usually prescribed laxatives. Considering constipation is a treatable condition, it has been of concern to hear about people whose deaths have been related to constipation.”

Speakers

In this webinar, we will be joined by:

  • Sarah Ormston (Dementia, Health and Wellbeing manager at MacIntyre)
  • Sarah Bruce (Lead Clinician Physiotherapist for Adults with Learning Disabilities at Guys and St Thomas’ Hospital)

who will speak to us about health, LeDeR and specifically focus on the management of constipation, including the use of abdominal massage.

The presentation will be followed by a question and answer session. The webinar will be recorded and made available to Bild members
