Finalists in the Dementia Care Awards

Following our success in reaching the finals of the National Learning Disability and Autism Awards earlier this year, we have now also reached the final in two categories of the Dementia Care Awards.

The National Dementia Care Awards is an annual event organised by The Journal of Dementia Care, a multidisciplinary journal for all professional staff working with people with dementia, in hospitals, nursing and residential care homes, day units and the community. The awards were created to recognise the very best people in the dementia care sector, whose exceptional work and contributions make better, person-centred care a reality.

Our Dementia Project has reached the final in the ‘Dementia Care Innovation’ category, and our Director of Adult Services, Emma Killick, has reached the final in the ‘Dementia Personality’ category.

We are extremely proud of both Emma and the Dementia Project team and we look forward to the final night of the UK Dementia Congress in November where the winners will be announced.

Preparations are also rapidly underway for the learning disability-focused stream that we’re hosting at UK Dementia Congress this year on 9 November, the first of its kind at the Congress. We have a great line up of speakers, including MacIntyre staff, Experts by Experience and external experts in the field.

The dedicated sessions throughout the day will focus on ageing in place, the impact of dementia and relationships and getting a timely diagnosis.
