MacIntyre is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of the children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
We have a number of policies and procedures in place that contribute to our safeguarding commitment, including our Safeguarding Policy which can be viewed n the “Policies and Statements” area of our website.
Sometimes we may need to share information and work in partnership with other agencies when there are concerns about a child’s welfare. We will ensure that our concerns about our pupils are discussed with his/her parents/carers first unless we have reason to believe that such move would be contrary to the child’s welfare.
We actively support the Government’s Prevent Agenda to counter radicalism and extremism.
MacIntyre School recognises that pupils are growing up in an increasingly complex world, living their lives seamlessly on and off line. This presents many positive and exciting opportunities, but also challenges and risks.
We believe that the Internet, and access to it via a range of technologies, is an attractive and increasingly integral feature of student’s learning and entertainment and that in enabling access to this invaluable resource we also have a duty to ensure the students are:
The use of the latest technology is actively encouraged at MacIntyre School but with this comes a responsibility to protect the pupils and the school from possible abuse within this system. It is the duty of the School to ensure that every student in their care is safe, and that the same safeguarding principles should apply to the ‘virtual’ or digital world as would be applied to the School’s physical buildings.
We are happy to give guidance to parents and carers on internet filtering and parental controls. We also use many resources that parents and carers may find useful.
