MacIntyre endorses the Positive Behaviour Support Academy Competency Framework

MacIntyre has recently joined other organisations in leading the journey towards better lives for people whose behaviours are of concern by endorsing the PBS (Positive Behaviour Support) Academy Competency Framework.

The PBS Academy is a collective of organisations and individuals in the UK who are working together to promote PBS as a framework for working with children and adults with learning disabilities who are at risk of behaviour that challenges.

The Framework breaks down in detail the competencies that should be expected of frontline staff, leaders and PBS professionals. Before endorsing the framework we were keen to ensure we could be true to our word and so we carried out the following actions.

We self-assessed against the framework at an organisational level collecting evidence of how we support staff to develop the competencies and setting actions where we found gaps. We developed our PBS policy to support the achievement of the competencies. We looked at and referenced the framework in training with Senior Managers and have trained over 50 BILD PBS Coaches, a programme now explicitly aligned to the competencies.

We now hope to work more closely with the PBS Academy to continue to benchmark our practice and learn from others.
