We are delighted to announce the opening of a new service at Cedar Court in Edenbridge, Kent. The scheme provides five-year, move-on accommodation that gives residents the support and care needed to build skills for independent living in the future.
Deborah Ibbetson, Area Manager, MacIntyre was joined by the Sevenoaks District Councillor and Edenbridge Town Council Chairman Councillor, Stuart McGregor, Chief Executive Frank Czarnowski and Scott Edwards, Managing Director of Brenwards Builders, the company that carried out the work, for the unveiling of the scheme.
The property comprises of eight individual flats with separate bedrooms, as well as access to a communal lounge, kitchen and bathroom and direct access to a communal garden which features sensory planting, giant games and a summerhouse for the residents to enjoy.
The property will begin to be occupied this week as individuals start to move in. Those who have already viewed the property are really pleased with their allocated flats and are excited to be moving in. Families have commented on what an excellent standard the property has been finished to.
Kelly Reed, Frontline Manager at MacIntyre, said:
“The scheme will allow individuals to develop and maintain their independent living skills and become part of a supportive and close knit community which will put them in an excellent position for the future when they move on to more general needs accommodation. They potentially at that point will benefit from having seamless continuity of support via an outreach provision from a team that know them well, to enable smooth transition into their future homes. I am extremely honoured to be involved in the new scheme and with raising the profile of MacIntyre in Kent.”
West Kent will provide housing management at Cedar Court, with tenants all being nominated by Kent County Council.
Homes are allocated by a panel of representatives from Kent County Council, West Kent, Sevenoaks District Council and MacIntyre. Those moving in have been assessed as needing care and support but with the skills to develop independent living.
