A ‘Good’ OfSTEd Report!
5 July 2017
We are delighted to announce that MacIntyre School had its OfSTEd Education inspection 13-15 June 2017 and was judged to be Good in all areas except Personal Development, Behaviour and Welfare which was judged to be Outstanding, meaning that the overall judgement was Good.
This inspection was aligned with the inspection of the on-site children’s home, which has also received a provisional judgement of Good; we await the final report.
Students take on the Big Hike
28 June 2017
Earlier in June, the annual Big Hike returned to the Peak District. Both staff and students joined other adults and young people supported by MacIntyre across the country to camp and hike for up to seven days, covering up to 10 miles each day. This was no easy task on an ordinary day, but the soaring temperatures on a few of the days made it even more of a challenge, which the students faced head-on.
The Big Hike is a brilliant opportunity to meet new people, to work together and to work on skills such as map-reading and increasing independence. The students thoroughly enjoyed the challenge and came back with lots of stories to tell.

The MacIntyre School Youth Club is held every Thursday after school hours and is a great way for the students to relax, have fun and take part in different activities. Last week, the club was slightly different as the group took the occasion to celebrate Tana’s 18th Birthday. There was a disco with a DJ, dancing, lots of food and of course a delicious cake, which both Tana and the rest of the group enjoyed.
Halloween fun in House 2
2 November 2016
House 2 had a spooktacular time celebrating Halloween this year. Staff and students dressed up as ghosts, ghouls and witches, which involved lots of face paint, fancy wigs and hats! As no party is complete without decorations, the house was also draped with fake cobwebs and banners. Both staff and students also enjoyed a creepy taste test, where ghastly delights such as ‘mice’, ‘blood’ and ‘fangs’ were sampled. Everyone then continued to dance the night away to some stomping Halloween tunes!

Celebrating World Smile Day at MacIntyre School Wingrave
10 October 2016
Every Friday morning, the staff and students at MacIntyre School come together to celebrate the achievements of the week. From being able to walk to school independently, to completing an art task, or even simply achieving a personal best, the progress that has been made throughout the week by each student and class is recognised.
Last week the assembly was made even more special as it was World Smile Day. The accomplishments of each student and class certainly were something worth smiling about! To acknowledge the special day, each student showed their best smile as they collected their certificate and showcased their work for the week.
