MacIntyre is delighted that Sarah Burslem has been appointed as its Chief Executive Officer (CEO) from January 2016.
Sarah, who trained as a nurse and has extensive experience within the social care sector, was previously the Managing Director of MacIntyre from January 2014 and prior to that was the Director responsible for MacIntyre’s Adult Services. Sarah says of her appointment “I am very proud to lead MacIntyre as we enter our landmark Golden Jubilee year. MacIntyre is a great place to learn, live and work, with the person centred values established by our founders still being at the heart of everything we do. Charities have a particular role to play in society and all the more so in the current climate. I have with the director team and other colleagues been actively evaluating our strategy and vision in the last few months and we are now delighted to launch formally our 2016 and beyond strategy, to coincide with our Jubilee, entitled “Proud of our Past, Ambitious for our Future”. In MacIntyre we look forward to continuing to innovate, push boundaries and to develop new partnerships with disabled children and adults, their families, community groups and commissioners”.
John Berriman, Chair of MacIntyre’s Governing board says “I have been privileged to have seen MacIntyre grow from day one where we had one small independent school, established 50 years ago in Bedfordshire, to a broad based national charity supporting some 1,000 children and adults with a range of learning disabilities. We provide a combination of personalised support, care and education nationally and we employ some 2,100 people. Our ambition is to grow, either organically or through collaboration, to provide public benefit and meet social need. It is a great pleasure to announce Sarah Burslem as our CEO to lead us in pursuit of our goals. She has huge experience of MacIntyre and has assembled a first rate team to support her in the leadership of the charity. On behalf of the trustees I welcome her to the CEO role and I know she and her team will take MacIntyre to the next level of its development as a major sector influencing charity”.
