Last week, the annual Big Hike returned to the Peak District. Both staff and the adults and young people that we support across the country came together to camp and hike, covering up to 10 miles on each day; no easy task on an ordinary day, but soaring temperatures made the course even more challenging.
Not only is The Big Hike a brilliant opportunity for team work and learning the importance of endurance and perseverance, but it is also a great way to make new friends and increase fitness levels.
This year, the atmosphere was filled with laughter, celebration and story-telling, with people from across the country sharing tales and anecdotes as they manoeuvred steep hills and rocky paths.
If walking the distance wasn’t enough, one of our Frontline Managers from Bedfordshire, Dan, set his own challenge to complete The Big Run: running ten miles each day for five days! Dan took on the challenge to raise money for projects in both Bedfordshire Adult Services and wider projects in MacIntyre. It’s not too late to sponsor Dan, visit his Virgin Money Giving page. Well done Dan, it’s an amazing achievement!
We would like to say a huge well done to everyone that took part in The Big Hike and to everyone behind the scenes who worked hard to make the event happen. As they say, a picture paints a thousand words, so check out some of the photos below…
