Ahead of their assessed expedition in July, two students at MacIntyre School have been practising for their Duke of Edinburgh award.

The award which is fun, but challenging allows individuals to achieve new skills and gain confidence in their abilities. Having already completed another practise expedition earlier in the year, this was an opportunity for the students to focus on cycling.

Pitching up at the Action for Youth Caldecotte Xperience Centre in Milton Keynes on Thursday 7 June, the students managed to cycle a fantastic total of 24 miles over the course of 2 days.

The students were also encouraged by staff to develop their independence by constructing the campsite. They worked together to build the tents that they would be sleeping in and found joy in creating their own meals; including vibrant picnics and a delicious chicken stir-fry.
