On Thursday 2 May 32 teams took to Woburn Golf Club for the 32nd MacIntyre Golf Day. Since 1987 this event has raised over £800,000 for the people supported by MacIntyre.
Prizes are awarded for the first six teams as well as for Nearest the Pin and Longest Drive. This year’s overall winners were the team from Marsh, with Gill Hudson Homes and Repro Plastics Ltd taking 2nd and 3rd places respectively.
A special thanks to the event’s main sponsor McCann Homes and to Duncan Sinclair for providing the prizes, as well as a number of others who kindly sponsored holes and printing: Franklins Solicitors, Investigo, David Gallagher, Business World Services and the French Horn at Steppingley.
At the Halfway House MacIntyre’s Catering team offered some sweet and savoury treats where the team from Marsh also offered the opportunity for two of the people we support to hit a couple of balls on the course.
Mike Halldearn, UK Client Service Leader at Marsh said:
“What a wonderful day and evening at the Macintyre Golf Day. We’re very proud and privileged to have had such a long standing advisory relationship with this outstanding organisation who provide learning, support and care for more than 1,500 children, young people and adults who have a learning disability.
Really well done to the organisers who work so hard and exceeded last year’s effort raising £50k...auction was vibrant. After five years Team Marsh finally managed to win the famous trophy (32 years hosted at Woburn GC raising over £800k - amazing). That said, we far more enjoyed our coaching lesson with some fine young people on the 10th. Well done team MacIntyre and thanks for a great day.”
