‘Good’ news from MacIntyre Children’s Home in Hertfordshire

17 September 2026
News

We’re delighted to share that our Children’s Home in Hertfordshire has been rated ‘Good’ following a recent Ofsted inspection.

The inspection took place on 28 –29 July. In their report, Ofsted recognised the warm, trusting relationships between young people and staff, noting that:

‘Positive, warm and nurturing interactions were observed between the children and staff, with lots of laughter and staff being responsive to the individual needs of the children. The children are very comfortable in the company of the staff team and have built trusting relationships with the staff.’

The report also highlights how young people are supported in ways that make sense to them, and how they’re encouraged to have a say in decisions about their own lives, like decorating their bedrooms, and supporting them to be independent.

Inspectors noted positive feedback from parents and social workers. The report states: Staff know the children very well and the children are happy living at the home. One parent said their child had made significant progress since living at the home. Another parent said, 'They [staff] are amazing, I can't fault them.'

Liam Dutnall, Registered Manager at Woodland View, said:

“We’re thrilled with the recognition in this report. Our focus is always on every young person, and continue to support them in ways that work for them, as well as building strong relationships with their families and the people around them, too.

A particular highlight from this Ofsted inspection, for me, was how involved the inspector became with the house BBQ which had been organised – it’s so much more reflective of what life is actually like at Woodland View, and I’m so pleased the inspector was able to be a part of it.”

Well done to everyone involved.
