Meet our Outstanding Specialist Support Employee 2019

9 May 2019
News

At MacIntyre, we believe it is essential to celebrate the efforts and successes of our staff and recognise when an individual’s talents have had an impact on those around them.

At our Marjorie Newton Wright Awards in April, the judges remarked on the sheer breadth of different roles under the heading ‘Outstanding Specialist Support Employee'.

Each of the nominations highlighted the expertise of each of our teams from around the country including; PBS coaches, Inspirational Trainers, Compliance, Health and Safety and others from MacIntyre School and Children’s Homes' Therapy Team.

One of the interesting things about these nominations is how many of the nominees have moved around within MacIntyre. Many of the individuals nominated came from operational roles, which shows that there are so many opportunities to take skills from one area of the organisation, into another.

Winner – Julie Burns, Administrator, Shrewsbury Office

Julie was nominated by several managers in our Shropshire services, as well as by someone we support.

There have been some new managers in Shropshire over the past year and Julie has gone above and beyond her job description in supporting them to understand their new roles.

One of Julie’s nominations says it all:

“She is the glue that holds us all together. She doesn’t do her job for the wages alone, but because she truly believes in what we do. She makes sure the team is equipped to deal with anything that comes their way; whether it is training, resources, advice, connections, information or more valuable things like cake, hugs and an ear to bend or a shoulder to cry on.

She gives a fair perspective on difficult situations and her thoughts are respected and valued beyond words.”

Congratulations to Julie and all of our fantastic nominees!
