Community car wash opens doors

17 July 2026
News

The summer sunshine brought out plenty of customers as young people studying with MacIntyre No Limits™ teamed up with The Stag Pub & Kitchen for their annual community car wash.

No Limits helps young people with learning disabilities and autistic young people prepare for adulthood through education, skills and work experience. Their annual car wash is a perfect example of that in action, giving learners the opportunity to contribute to their local community while developing confidence and employment skills.

Community connection

Now in its third year, the event has become a much-anticipated fixture for learners in Buckinghamshire. Each June, they work alongside their job coach and a supportive local business to offer a professional car washing service, giving young people the chance to build real workplace experience while making a positive contribution to their community.

The project is about much more than clean cars. It helps break down barriers to employment for people with learning disabilities and autistic people by creating meaningful, person-centred work opportunities in a real business setting. Along the way, learners develop practical skills, confidence, teamwork, communication and customer service experience that will support them in future employment.

This year's event was one of the busiest yet. While customers enjoyed lunch, relaxed in the beer garden or watched their children play in the adventure playground, learners worked hard washing and drying vehicles, delivering a service that impressed everyone who visited.

A new opportunity

The impact didn't end there. A local taxi company was so impressed by the quality of the work that it asked about arranging another car wash for its fleet, creating even more opportunities for learners to develop their skills and grow the enterprise.

Delighted customers

Customers were equally enthusiastic:

Thank you for cleaning our car – it looks great! It was so nice to see your advert. We have no kitchen at the moment and thought it would be great to support a great cause and enjoy a pub lunch at the same time. Please keep us informed about the next car wash.

Please thank everyone involved. The car looks so clean, and it was a really good price.

It was so nice to be able to support your car wash. The learners and staff all did a fantastic job and completed the work in good time. We are so happy to have supported such a great cause.

Skills and possibilities

The annual car wash shows what's possible when local businesses and community organisations work together. It creates genuine opportunities for people to learn, contribute and be recognised for what they can do, while bringing the local community together around a simple idea that benefits everyone.

A huge thank you to all the learners, staff, the job coach and everyone at The Stag Pub & Kitchen for making another successful community car wash possible.
