New Routes in Warrington

22 September 2022
News

The team from the New Routes horticulture project in Warrington talk about how the project which started around 20 years ago.

Cheryl and Martin have been there since day one. The orchard was designed by Martin who set out where he’d like the trees to grow and the different areas of the garden. Martin’s plan was used by an architect to create a formal plan and the team then set to work to transform the derelict space to what it is today.

Cheryl said:

“What I’ve seen more than anything is people taking ownership, it’s their garden, it’s their piece of land, their ideas, their dreams. It’s just been magical to see it grow and develop over the years… The dream for the future is to create a beautiful, sustainable garden that’s going to be here long after we’ve all gone.”

This short film shows the amazing orchard that has been created, how local companies and people have supported the project, and the team share some of their plans for the future.
