We're finishing our Marjorie Newton Wright Award series by celebrating the winners of the Outstanding Team award. Congratulations to Murrell Way Team from Shropshire.
The team received multiple nominations, including from the family members of each person who lives in the house.
Murrell Way is home to three young women who lead busy lives. The staff team of eight, who all joined less than a year ago, provide outstanding support, responding to each person’s needs to ensure they are happy and living fulfilled lives.
Elena, the manager said:
“The team have built positive working relationships with family members, giving them faith that they have their relatives’ best interests at heart. A normal week might include dancing in the kitchen in pyjamas, horse riding, playing tag, working on a farm, nights out at a disco, the theatre or a meal out. The house is full of fun, and giggles – people are in control of their lives and the team is there to support people to achieve what they want. I’ve never come across such a vibrant, positive and caring team”
A family member said:
“Although there’s still more to be done to fully support our daughter, the team are open and responsive to this. Thank you for beginning to show us that the picture of what supported independent living is meant to be and can actually be realised in practice.”
