Small actions, big impact

News

Every day across MacIntyre, colleagues are quietly going above and beyond, all with the purpose of supporting people to live the lives they choose. Our Employees of the Month are a snapshot of that wider story: different roles, different settings, but the same commitment to making a real difference. This month, we’re proud to recognise these four colleagues:

Acho Ohaka – Crosby Close Hertfordshire (Adult Social Care)

Acho has shown real commitment following dementia workshops with Beth Britton, going above and beyond to ensure the learning translates into meaningful improvements for people. He has taken a proactive approach, identifying environmental changes and creating a clear timetable to embed them, many of which are already in place. Feedback from Beth highlighted just how impactful this work has been, with the team recognised for their outstanding progress. Alongside this, Acho played a key role in organising Easter celebrations, building links with a local gym and supporting donations to the community food pantry. His focus on inclusion and quality of life shines through in everything he does.

Ashton Chipika – Oak House, Wingrave Children’s Home (Children and Young People)

Ashton has demonstrated exceptional dedication in supporting a young person and their family during a difficult time. He attended A&E on two occasions and made multiple hospital visits, ensuring the family had the space and support they needed to rest and recharge. His calm, reliable presence made a real difference. Ashton’s willingness to step in, give his time, and prioritise the wellbeing of both the young person and their family reflects genuine compassion and professionalism. His actions embody the kind of support that goes beyond expectations.

Denisa Petrovic – Bedfordshire (No Limits)

Denisa has stood out for her dedication, growth, and proactive approach in recent months. She continues to provide strong, consistent support to learners while also working towards her Level 3 qualification, balancing both without compromising the quality of her work. Her progress has been recognised by colleagues, with clear improvements in her confidence and skills. Denisa approaches her role with focus and determination, always looking for ways to develop and contribute more to the team. Her commitment to both learning and practice makes her a valued and respected member of the service.

Melissa Barcoe – North West Hub (Specialist Support Services)

Mel brings energy, creativity, and genuine dedication to everything she does. She consistently goes above and beyond for both the people who draw on support and her colleagues, giving her time and enthusiasm to initiatives like the choir and the much-anticipated ‘Pantomime Soup’. She’s also thrown herself into community activities, representing the team in the Salford centenary football match. Mel is always ready to help, keen to learn, and committed to making things better, whether that’s supporting managers or getting involved in new ideas. Her positivity and team spirit make a lasting impact, and she is a hugely valued member of the North West Hub.
