Every month, MacIntyre colleagues nominate people who have gone above and beyond in their work, whether that means finding creative ways to involve the people they support, making a positive change to someone’s day, or simply being the colleague others can rely on.
Our July winners celebrate four people whose contributions have made a real difference across MacIntyre.
Tracy Callus – Adult Social Care, Leicester
Tracy is someone who is rarely short of an idea. Over the past six years, her creativity, enthusiasm and positivity have made a real impression on her colleagues and the people she supports.
When teams in Leicester were challenged to raise money for MacIntyre’s 60th anniversary, Tracy immediately got involved. She identified Birstall Gala as a great opportunity to connect with the local community and organised a tin can alley stall. People she supports helped decorate the cans and create ‘grass head’ prizes during arts and crafts sessions, making sure everyone was involved.
Working with colleagues to promote the event, Tracy and Grace ran the stall at the gala in June, raising more than £80. But Tracy wasn’t finished there. She is now exploring a Bhangra night with colleague Soma, with a singer generously offering to perform for free.
It’s typical of Tracy: she spots opportunities, brings people together and turns creative ideas into something that others can enjoy.
Chris Deeley – CYP, MacIntyre School
Chris has made a simple change to the start of the school day that is already having a significant impact for Harry, a young person at MacIntyre School in Wingrave
Chris began taking Harry out for long walks first thing in the morning, helping to redirect his attention and reduce the anxiety he had been experiencing around sitting near the reception door.
He has approached the new routine with real commitment, anticipating Harry’s needs and preparing for every kind of weather. The walks have become a positive part of the morning, with Chris happily putting in the miles and celebrating the progress he is seeing.
Harry is already appearing healthier, both physically and emotionally. The routine has also helped other young people who found navigating the reception area difficult at the beginning of the school day.
For Chris, it’s been about finding something that works for Harry and sticking with it, with positivity, patience and a willingness to go the extra mile (literally).
Danielle Mardon – No Limits Buckinghamshire North
Danielle has made a strong impression since a promotion to Programme Coordinator, quickly becoming a valued and respected colleague.
She has brought a wealth of knowledge to her role, while also making a real contribution to the wider team. Her positive attitude, willingness to help others and strong sense of teamwork have helped her settle into her new role seamlessly.
Colleagues describe Danielle as a pleasure to work with and have highlighted how readily she has shared her knowledge and supported those around her.
In a relatively short time, she has established herself as someone her colleagues can rely on – bringing both expertise and a positive approach to the team.
Donna McHenry – Specialist Support Services, Recruitment
Donna McHenry is described by her colleagues as someone who makes the workplace better simply by being part of it.
She is always looking out for others, bringing positive energy and offering support whenever it is needed. Whether helping her team, encouraging a colleague or going above and beyond to make someone's day a little easier, Donna consistently shows kindness and generosity.
Her colleague highlighted the difference her encouragement and attitude make to those around her, describing her as someone whose positive impact “never goes unnoticed”.
Donna’s contribution may not always involve a big project or a headline-grabbing achievement. Instead, it's reflected in the everyday moments when she supports others, lifts the mood and helps create a positive working environment.
That consistency, kindness and willingness to help are exactly what make Donna her colleague describes as 'a legend'.
