This week we join in celebrating Intensive Interaction Week. MacIntyre's DNA includes the statements 'everyone has a voice and is listened to' and 'we keep on learning'. One of the approaches that we use to help people to develop their communication is Intensive Interaction.
Engaging in Intensive Interaction allows people to practice early communication skills like facial expressions, using and understanding eye contact or taking turns. Because it resembles play more than practice, the learning happens in a safe and fun environment.
At MacIntyre we are committed to supporting our staff to become skilled in Intensive Interaction and many employees complete their Competent Practitioner accreditation. One of the training resources that we use is Intensive Interaction Postcard which lists Principles of Intensive Interaction as well as Fundamentals of Communication.
You can find out more about Intensive Interaction through Intensive Interaction Institute website. You can also use our Postcard as a handy reminder of the basics of Intensive Interaction.
