“The more you put in, the more you get out. My days are filled with joy and a sense of achievement. Very proud of the people I support, feeling part of a team and valued. I love my job."
Work for us
Working at MacIntyre isn’t just another job. It’s rewarding, inspiring, exciting and it gives you the chance to make a real, positive impact on people’s lives.
If you’re looking for a culture which celebrates difference, you’ve come to the right place! We strive to make sure all our staff feel included, valued and respected.
From the moment you apply, through to joining MacIntyre and progressing in your career with us, we are committed to positively promoting equality, diversity and embracing inclusion within our workforce. But we go further – we want to attract people who share our values, who have a wide range of personalities, opinions and approaches and are truly representative of society and people supported. We believe that a diverse team is a strong team.
We do occasionally need to advertise roles which are, for example, gender-specific, but this will always be clear on our adverts, and will be for essential reasons such as the privacy and dignity of people we support.
What will your job involve?
Well, each day is different when you work at MacIntyre. You could work at our school, one of our learning centres, residential services, or in the community, but wherever you are based, you will be supporting children, young people or adults who have autism or a learning disability to live a life that makes sense to them.
We also have regular specialist and management vacancies, or opportunities in our central business support teams, for example in finance, or learning and development.
Whatever your role, we all work together to celebrate everyone's unique gifts, talents and contributions.
Experience isn’t always necessary. If you have the right personal qualities and share our values, you are likely to be a great fit. We provide a full induction, free training programme and the day-to-day back-up of your team and line manager.
For our selection process you will submit brief details on our application form, together with your CV.
We will review your application and will often give you a call for an informal chat. If we look like a good fit for each other, we will invite you to a more formal interview and (in most cases) to meet the people you will be supporting.
Our minimum recruitment checks include two or more recent references, an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check (which MacIntyre pays for), and a health check. Of course we will also need to see original documents that prove your right to work in the UK. If you’ve lived overseas for more than six months in the last five years (no matter what your nationality) we will also ask you to obtain an overseas police check.
We will work with you to make sure these checks are completed as quickly as possible, and will keep you up to date with progress. On average, people join us within 40 days of applying.
“The people we support are amazing, the staff are brilliant, every day is different and the way MacIntyre celebrates their staff is like no other. It’s amazing!”
To candidates
MacIntyre reserves the right to close job advertisements early if we have sufficient applicants or for other reasons, so we encourage you to get your application in quickly.
To recruitment agencies
MacIntyre works directly with candidates and we do not normally use agencies for permanent recruitment. We do not accept unsolicited agency CVs. Please do not forward CVs to our recruitment team, our employees or any company location. MacIntyre is not responsible for any introduction fees related to unsolicited CVs.
