MacIntyre is a Disability Confident Employer

25 January 2018
News

We are pleased to announce that MacIntyre has recently re-qualified as a Disability Confident Employer. The Disability Confident scheme aims to help businesses to successfully employ and retain disabled people and those with health conditions.

As a Disability Confident Employer we:

  • have undertaken and successfully completed the Disability Confident self-assessment
  • are taking all of the core actions to be a Disability Confident employer
  • are offering at least one activity to get the right people for our business and at least one activity to keep and develop our people.

Tess Marshall, Recruitment Officer says:

“We are delighted to have renewed our accreditation as a Disability Confident Employer. Completing the assessment underlined for us how the values of the Disability Confident scheme match MacIntyre’s underlying purpose to achieve excellence in everything we do. Employing people from a wide range of backgrounds, including those with disabilities, makes us stronger. The scheme has also helped us to take a broader view of disability – many people don’t appreciate that less than 10% of people with a disability are wheelchair users, and yet that is the universal disability symbol. We believe it’s important to treat each person as an individual with unique needs and talents.”

MacIntyre’s next goal is to become a Disability Confident Leader, which we are taking the appropriate steps towards.
