We are sorry to report that MacIntyre has experienced a cyber-attack. Our security systems gave us early warning of this attack enabling us to act swiftly to minimise the impact. While this early detection is positive, we are aware that some of our data was accessed.
We have informed the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the Charity Commission, the Police and our Trustees. In addition, we have commissioned support from a cyber-security expert who is working alongside our own excellent IT team to ensure that this investigation is as robust as possible. All of the necessary tests have been applied to the system to minimise the risk of any third party continuing to access data and to protect us against new attacks.
It is clear that an investigation of this kind will take some time as we are fully committed to understanding what data was accessed and the implications for the people affected. We will be in contact with any specific individuals if we ascertain that anyone has been particularly affected.
We have advised all of our key stakeholders that In light of this attack they should be especially aware of any scam emails, texts or telephone calls and we have requested that they consider the steps recommended by Action Fraud https://www.actionfraud.police.uk/individual-protection.
We are taking this very seriously and will ensure that the investigation leaves no stone unturned.
If you would like to talk this through please contact this email address and we will endeavour to get back to you as soon as we can [javascript protected email address].
