It is a lovely big house. Our son has a view over the garden, like at home. He loves the swing. He will give a thumbs up and a nod because he is happy to go back.
Hillside, Bedfordshire
Hillside children’s home in Bedfordshire is approximately six miles from MacIntyre School in Wingrave. The home supports up to 5 children/young people aged 14-19.
Hillside benefits children and young people who require support in a smaller group setting and have their education and therapeutic support fully met by MacIntyre School where they attend as day pupils.
Our staff work closely with families, involving them every step of the way, sharing achievements and ensuring that a consistent, open relationship is maintained.
Extended curriculum
The residential home is also utilised for young people on the pathway to transition as a way to enhance their skills for independent living. This is supported by the delivery of a curriculum focusing on independence, community living and preparing for adulthood.
Ofsted inspection
The service was inspected by Ofsted in January 23 and found to be Good in all areas. Inspectors said:
Each child has a good placement plan, which details their individual needs and their preferred methods of communication. The children enjoy spending dedicated time with staff, who understand their communication styles. Staff recognise each child’s progress. They praise children verbally and award certificates to celebrate their achievements.
