MacIntyre offers a range of accommodation and support options for 16 adults aged 19 or over with learning disabilities and/or autistic people in Hemel Hempstead, Wheathampstead and St Albans. We spend time getting to know people’s ambitions and aspirations and ensure everyone has choice and control over their lives.
Crosby Close in St Albans is dual registered to provide accommodation with nursing care and support for up to 12 people with learning and physical difficulties.
Our staff receive training in subjects including safeguarding, health and safety, medicines, and specific health conditions including epilepsy, and we work closely with other health and social care professionals, including GPs, occupational therapists, chiropodists and psychiatrists.
We also support over 40 adults in their own homes, through Supported Living.
Across Hertfordshire MacIntyre is rated Good with the Care Quality Commission.

The MacIntyre Our Voice project is an ambitious three-year initiative designed to engage and connect adults with learning disabilities and autistic people in South West Hertfordshire. At its core, this project focuses on amplifying people’s voices.
We know from our wider community work that when people come together and engage in creative activities they grow in confidence and ability. Our Voice will provide people with these opportunities, co-produced with everyone involved, and drawing on the connections of local community groups.
With approximately 21,000 people with learning disabilities living in Hertfordshire, Our Voice strives to ensure every individual feels valued and heard, whether or not they currently receive support from MacIntyre.
We run regular social groups and projects across SW Herts (St Albans, Watford, Three Rivers, Dacorum and Hertsmere) Have a look at our local Facebook page for events and updates.
Laura Horn is our Project Engagement Coordinator.
With a background as a Dance and Community Arts practitioner, Laura is drawing on her existing Hertfordshire contacts and developing new ones with people and communities in the area to co-create a range of opportunities, connecting people, places and activities.
Laura's ambition for the project is to empower people with learning disabilities to co-create and make change.
Robbie Mason is the Community Connector for the MacIntyre Our Voice Project.
Robbie likes to meet new people and promote the work of the MacIntyre Our Voice Project. He is passionate about music and aims to set up music-based projects to engage and inspire people.
Kathryn Yates is our Culture and Communities Manager.
Kathryn plays a leading role in MacIntyre's Everyone Everywhere initiative, together with the Warrington Great Communities Project. Before this, Kathryn led MacIntyre's Shared Lives provision.
She is excited to be working alongside existing groups as well as co-developing new spaces to bring people together.
We have one children’s home in Hertfordshire providing 24/7 care and support for up to six children, including one emergency placement.
The mission of the children’s home at Woodland View is to support the children and young people in acquiring skills and experiences, so that they may take their rightful place in society, feel valued and are contributing members of society. We aim to stabilise the lives of young people that come to live with us, and develop their potential.
Woodland View offers a stable, secure and supportive environment, in which the children we care for can develop the skills and confidence necessary to help them fulfil their potential. We provide individualised and child centred approaches, and work with each young person to build a bespoke package of care.
Woodland View is rated Good by Ofsted. The recent report found
Staff help children to work towards simple and achievable independence targets. Staff encourage children to make choices about their care. One child who struggled to have her hair brushed and washed, now allows staff to help her with daily haircare. This is good progress for the child. Children achieve important targets, to increase their independence and well-being.
