With less than a week to go, there’s still time to join our webinar with Dementia Action Alliance on Tuesday 8 May at 10am. Hosted by leading campaigner on ageing, health and dementia Beth Britton and Dementia Project Manager at MacIntyre, Sarah Ormston; the webinar will discuss learning disabilities and dementia.
The webinar will focus on MacIntyre’s innovative ‘Dementia Project’, which was funded by the Department of Health in 2016, with the aim to improve the awareness of dementia among those with a learning disability. Highlighting the importance of a punctual diagnosis, the project trains professionals to provide support for those living with a learning disability who are at risk of developing dementia.
The webinar will also explain the significance of the ‘Wellbeing for Life’ toolkit and provide tips for health and social care providers on learning disabilities and dementia.
“This webinar is a really exciting opportunity for us to showcase MacIntyre’s ground-breaking Dementia Project; to talk about the resources we’ve created, and support other health and social care providers through enhancing their knowledge of learning disabilities and dementia. We know that not everyone with a learning disability has access to the specialist services MacIntyre provide but through working with the DAA to host this webinar, we hope we can reach out to as many professionals and families as possible so that they are more aware, and better equipped to support someone with a learning disability and dementia, and individuals with a learning disability who are at risk of developing dementia.”
