Launching Memories and Miles 2019

20 August 2019
News

What a weekend! On Saturday, we launched Memories and Miles 2019 in Warrington, kick-starting our set of upcoming Memories and Miles events.

Held at the iconic Halliwell Jones Stadium, walkers were joined by Warrington Wolves mascot 'Wolfie' alongside local gym Energie Fitness, to walk one mile to raise money for the Warrington Memory Café.

Last year, we launched our first Memories and Miles walks to celebrate loved ones with dementia and raise money for our growing number of Memory Cafés, following on from our award-winning work on dementia and learning disabilities.

Our Memory Cafés provide essential support and sense of community for people living with dementia and their families and the total raised from the events will ensure this support continues.

Speaking about the event, Becky Brindle, Frontline Manager in Warrington said:

"The day was a real success. We organised a local gym to come and do a warm-up for us, this created a great atmosphere and there was lots of singing and dancing."

"We also organised for Wolfie, the Warrington Wolves mascot, to come and meet everyone. He joined us at the beginning and completed a lap of the pitch. He then joined us at the end and presented everyone with their medal."
