Pride: Reece's MacIntyre Journey

29 June 2023
News

by Reece Harris

Reece is part of the No Limits team in Milton Keynes, our further education provision. He is also a member of MacIntyre's Diversity Advisory Group.

He's recorded this video reflecting on his journey at MacIntyre.

Training and qualifications

He talks about his experience of being supported to gain first the Level 3 Award in Education and Training, and subsequently the Level 5.

MacIntyre really wants to see you succeed.

Diversity Role

Reece describes joining the MacIntyre Diversity Group, and the additional opportunities this has given him to develop and grow, including the creation of videos which demonstrate and celebrate the overall diversity within MacIntyre. He's had opportunities to collaborate with people around MacIntyre.

Pride Month

Reece reflects on growing up as a gay male at a time when Section 28 was still in force, exacerbating prejudice and preventing schools from providing proper support and safeguarding for young LGBTQIA+ people.

Pride is important for all of us, and it's certainly important for MacIntyre. Creating safe spaces, free of discrimination, must be central to everything we do.

Watch Reece's video below to hear from him directly.
