Work experience at Festive Road

22 December 2021
News

With support from MacIntyre No Limits, Erin has taken part in a work experience placement at Festive Road MK, which has had an incredible impact on her future.

At MacIntyre, we know that supporting a person to pursue their interests can help to grow their confidence. Knowing Erin was interested in the arts, a placement with Festive Road seemed to be the perfect fit.

Festive Road is a specialist outdoor arts organisation developing mechanically powered puppets and structures for parades and other events.

For Erin, this was a chance to experience working in a creative environment, something she really enjoyed. Erin worked closely with Martine Frost, the Executive Director at Festive Road.

Speaking about the placement, Erin said:

"I’ve really enjoyed coming here. It’s very nice to be able to help with artistic stuff and Martine is really nice to work with."

Within her role, Erin also got the chance to design and make her own Diwa lamp for the Diwali parade organised by Festive Road

The work experience placement initially ran for four weeks but was extended due to Erin's fantastic work ethic and interest in the role.

Helen, a Community Teaching Assistant at MacIntyre supporting Erin, said:

"It has been marvellous to watch Erin’s confidence grow as she works on the tasks given to her. Being able to do hands-on work in an artistic, welcoming environment has been an ideal fit for her."

Thank you to Martine and Festive Road for their support!
