A trip to the zoo

31 July 2019
News

For so many of our staff, supporting people to achieve their goals is incredibly important. When *Samantha, a lady supported in Hampshire declared she wanted to see a few animals...there was only one thing for it. A trip to the zoo.

For many of our staff, supporting someone to enjoy a day filled with learning, adventure and imagination is what their job is all about.

Speaking about what inspired the recent trip, Helen a member of staff said:

"Each month we have a 'My Meeting' where the team sit down with the people we support. It's a chance to let us know if they’re happy, want anything to change and see what they would like to achieve in the coming month."

She continued:

"One of the ladies said she wanted to go to the zoo, so we decided to make a day trip for all who wanted to go."

With the weather on their side, the group were delighted to see a variety of animals and even stopped for a spot of lunch. However, the highlight of the day had to be a moment of laughter shared between the group.

Helen shared:

"We had a lot of laughter, as one of our team put her head in the mouth of a hippo statue, to amuse the ladies and her colleagues, but she lost her balance and had to be supported by staff!"
