MacIntyre’s Luke Cunniff won the Inspiring Leader for Children and Young People award at the recent Marjorie Newton Wright 2021 staff awards online ceremony.
Luke from Hertfordshire won the award for his clear vision of improvement for the home in all areas: staff support, supervision, training, outcomes for young people and hearing the voice of the young person. In May 2021 the children’s home underwent a planned Ofsted Inspection at which they received an overall grade of Outstanding - an absolutely phenomenal achievement for a home which first opened just two years ago.
Nominees highlighted how Luke was 100% approachable for all staff and young people, never too busy to talk to them about worries or concerns, an amazing advocate for the young people we support and how he constantly ensures that the best interests of the young people are a priority of everything that we do.
Following his recent Award, Luke and his team received this further accolade this week:
“I was the Consultant Anaesthetist looking after W yesterday when he attended for an MRI scan under general anaesthetic with Luke, Helen and Katie. I would just like to thank your fantastic team for everything they did for W during the day, they truly were wonderful with him and had really thought ahead to make the experience as successful and non-traumatic as possible for him. “
