Careers at MacIntyre: Anna's Story

23 July 2021
News

"The training has empowered me and given me so much more confidence in being able to support all learners now."

When Anna decided to take her career in a different direction, she knew she wanted a job she could be excited about. After seeing our MacIntyre No Limits team in action and meeting the people we support, Anna knew MacIntyre was where she wanted to be.

How did you first come across MacIntyre?

"Until recently, I ran my own business and as part of this provided a service for MacIntyre No Limits Milton Keynes, which was a weekly session for up to 12 learners. It was the highlight of my week, not just working with the learners, but the staff were so engaging too and fun to be around. You could really tell they loved what they did."

What made you decide to join the team at MacIntyre?

"Once I decided to step away from my business I began to think about what I could or wanted to do next. My husband has suggested MacIntyre a few times, as he said I lit up when I spoke about my sessions, but I was worried about supporting learners who needed personal care. While I knew most of the learners didn't need this level of support, it is something I had associated with being a Community Learning Facilitator.

I looked around at other jobs but I kept coming back to MacIntyre. When Andy Jeffs, who knew me from my sessions, mentioned a Community Learning Facilitator role was available, I told him of my concerns around personal care. He assured me that this wouldn't be an issue."

What has your experience been like so far?

"I have been blown away with my experience with MacIntyre from the start: applying for the role; selecting my interview time; my e-mail set up (little things like the signature being all ready); LMS and the Intranet - It is all so informative and streamlined.

Before running my own business, I worked in IT Service Management for various industries including publishing, financial and outsourcing. I have never seen an induction process so well thought out as MacIntyre's and the training offered was so accessible.

The training has empowered me and given me so much more confidence in being able to support ALL learners now."
