In July, Sally Hart from Greater Manchester and a large group of her friends climbed Snowdon to raise funds for MacIntyre. The climb was in memory of her late son Toby, who would have been 30 this year. We asked her how it all went.
Sally described some great camaraderie, in a group of around 50 friends of mixed ages and abilities, on a day in which the weather was ideal for the conditions. She told us how at times they were so high they were in the middle of the clouds.
She made us laugh describing how, near the summit, they met a group of people coming down the mountain who said “You’re nearly there, just a little slope round the corner”. Well the “little slope” was so steep they reckon goats would have had a hard time, and it took a lot of determination and leg power to carry on.
Their whole group arrived at the top at the same time, having staggered their departure times according to their abilities. But the funny thing is that once there, they had to queue to reach the summit. Snowdon is clearly very popular these days!
We’re so grateful to Sally and all her friends for their efforts, and hope that by now their aching limbs are back to normal! If you want to contribute on Sally’s Just Giving page, you can do so here.
