Co-production week!

2 July 2018
Blog post

This week is National Co-production Week so there is no better time to tell you about the work we have been doing over the last few months in MacIntyre to reflect on what is already going well and how we can make a real push to ensure that co-production is a reality everywhere.

This work is being supported by a group that includes people we support, family members and staff who have a variety of roles within the organisation.

It is so lovely to see how great the interactions are in the group not only with people using their facilitation skills but also how they demonstrate the underpinning values of co-production in action. The group has developed and grown together with everyone being seen and treated as equals. Everyone’s individual expertise and qualities are recognised and celebrated. Everyone contributes and most importantly we have fun.

One challenge we face is how to make sure the meetings are accessible to all and that this is reflected in anything we do within MacIntyre as a whole. The MacIntyre Checkers are a fantastic asset and have supported the group by thinking about what co-productions is and producing a summary of this in easy read. Look out for an update from The Checkers later in the week

During this co-production week we will be working with groups across the organisation to hold events to talk about co-production and to create an image we can share to visually communicate our approach. These will then be entered into a competition which will also run in The MAG to be judged later in the year.

See the group’s summary of what will help make co-production great at MacIntyre.

Co-production

We know that we can’t make decisions about a person’s support, staffing changes or new activities without involving them and understanding what is important…

Person Centred Approaches

Providing person centred support means always listening, learning and focusing on what is important to and for someone, now and in the future.
