Connecting at a walking festival

16 May 2025
News

We started working with the Milton Keynes Parks Trust a few months ago and have some great connections already.

They did a walk leader training a few months ago that’s helped us to organise a health walk on a Saturday morning in Great Holm and we have plans to launch a weekly wellbeing walk on a Friday afternoon which will be open to everyone.

Guy is one of the access ambassadors for the Trust and is part of the team up for an MK Inspiration award.

Mental Health Awareness Week

When we were thinking about bringing people together this month as part of Mental Health Awareness Week to recognise the importance of mental health, people talked about fresh air, exercise and being together in a group. So it made sense to check if there was something we could do together with the Parks Trust.

The Walking Festival

We heard about the Parks Trust Walking Festival and thought this would be the perfect thing to be part of. We got in touch with them and asked if there was anything we could together, could we help.

They asked us if we would like to open the Walking festival which is a week long series of events with all different partners and organisations.

A mindful walk

We planned the walk around Lodge Lake, leaving from the MacIntyre coffee shop at Great Holm and finishing there too for a coffee and chat.

It was really good to have MacIntyre as part of the walking festival for the first time. It was great to make new connections with you and people in your neighbourhood.

I enjoyed the walk, it was nice. I had a lovely time. I enjoyed the nice weather and walking it it.
