Excellent news from Wrexham as the team builds on success

27 May 2026
News

We’re incredibly proud to share that MacIntyre in Wrexham has once again been rated ‘Excellent’ across all areas following its latest inspection.

The report praised the service’s well-being, care and support, and leadership, describing leaders as ‘highly visible, compassionate and future-focused’. It also highlighted ‘warm, positive relationships’ between people and staff, characterised by ‘trust, empathy and genuine connection.’

For Area Manager Carly Morrissey, what mattered most was the atmosphere the inspector experienced while spending time with people at home.

“She just said she got a real sense of people having fun,” Carly said. “People were laughing. There was a genuine warmth.”

The inspection took place over one day, with the inspector spending time visiting homes, chatting with staff and meeting people who wanted to take part.

“It was really relaxed,” Carly said. “The inspector spent time talking to staff and just getting a feel for the houses.”

A few weeks later, during the formal feedback meeting, Carly said the inspector spoke about the pride staff showed in the lives people are building.

“She talked about staff being proud of people’s journeys and there being a genuine warmth, which you can’t fake,” she said.

One part of the feedback that particularly stood out was how clearly people knew and trusted the leadership team.

“We always talk about being visible,” Carly said. “You can say you know people, but then if you knock on the door and someone says, ‘Who’s this?’, that tells a different story.

“She said it was really evident that people knew us and were happy to see us. That was lovely to hear.”

Carly was quick to describe the result as a genuine team effort.

“We are one team,” she said. “People have difficult days and amazing days, and the staff are really resilient within that. They really support people to live well.”

The inspection also recognised several areas of outstanding practice, including communication support and Positive Behaviour Support (PBS), which inspectors described as “exemplary”. The report praised the way staff understand and respond to different forms of communication, helping people feel heard, understood and safe.

“I think verbal communication is such a small percentage of communication,” Carly said. “Sometimes someone spending the day in their bedroom is still communicating that something isn’t right.”

Alongside celebrating the result, the Wrexham team are already focused on what comes next. Over the next year, they will be working with MacIntyre’s Best Practice team, and the current Innovation Hub projects, to strengthen communication support even further, while also developing new Positive Behaviour Support practice leaders to help staff continue learning and growing.

“We want to upskill and develop staff locally,” Carly said.

There is plenty happening beyond the inspection too. We’re pleased to also share that a new home is due to open this summer, supporting four people as they settle into their own homes and communities.

“One gentleman is really interested in podcasts and radio,” Carly said. “He can’t wait to get involved with things.”

The report noted the strong focus on helping people build confidence, relationships and community connections, recognising the positive impact this has on people’s independence and sense of belonging.

This latest result is a reflection of the care, consistency and everyday hard work of everyone across the Wrexham team. We could not be prouder of what they have achieved, and of the ordinary moments, relationships and opportunities that sit behind the rating.

Rydym yn hynod falch o rannu’r ffaith bod MacIntyre yn Wrecsam wedi cael sgôr ‘Rhagorol’ unwaith eto ar draws pob maes yn dilyn ei arolwg diweddaraf.

Mae’r adroddiad yn canmol llesiant, gofal a chymorth, ac arweinyddiaeth y gwasanaeth, gan ddisgrifio’r arweinwyr fel unigolion ‘hynod weladwy, tosturiol sy’n canolbwyntio ar y dyfodol’. Roedd hefyd yn tynnu sylw at ‘berthnasoedd cynnes, cadarnhaol’ rhwng pobl a staff, a’r rheiny’n cael eu nodweddu gan ‘ymddiriedaeth, empathi a chysylltiad gwirioneddol’.

Yr hyn a oedd yn fwyaf pwysig i’r Rheolwr Ardal, Carly Morrissey, oedd yr awyrgylch a brofodd yr arolygydd wrth dreulio amser gyda phobl gartref.

“Dywedodd iddi gael ymdeimlad gwirioneddol o bobl yn cael hwyl,” meddai Carly. “Roedd pobl yn chwerthin. Roedd yna gynhesrwydd gwirioneddol.”

Cynhaliwyd yr arolygiad dros gyfnod o ddiwrnod, gyda’r arolygydd yn treulio amser yn ymweld â chartrefi, yn sgwrsio â’r staff, ac yn cwrdd â phobl a oedd am gymryd rhan.

“Roedd yn anffurfiol iawn,” meddai Carly. “Treuliodd yr arolygydd amser yn siarad â’r staff ac yn ymgyfarwyddo â’r tai.”

Ychydig wythnosau’n ddiweddarach, yn ystod y cyfarfod adborth ffurfiol, dywedodd Carly fod yr arolygydd wedi siarad am falchder amlwg y staff yn y bywydau y mae pobl yn eu hadeiladu.

“Soniodd fodd y staff yn falch o siwrneiau pobl a bod yna gynhesrwydd dilys, sy’n rhywbeth na allwch chi ei ffugio,” meddai.

Un elfen o’r adborth a oedd yn sefyll allan yn benodol oedd pa mor amlwg ydoedd fod y bobl yn adnabod y tîm arwain ac yn ymddiried ynddo.

“Rydyn ni bob amser yn siarad am fod yn weladwy,” meddai Carly. “Gallwch chi ddweud eich bod chi’n adnabod pobl, ond wedyn os byddwch chi’n curo ar y drws ac mae rhywun yn dweud, ‘Pwy yw hwn?’, mae hynny’n adrodd stori wahanol.

“Dywedodd ei bod yn amlwg iawn fod pobl yn ein hadnabod ac yn hapus i’n gweld ni. Roedd yn hyfryd clywed hynny.”

Roedd Carly’n awyddus i ddisgrifio’r canlyniad fel ymdrech wirioneddol gan y tîm.

“Rydyn ni’n un tîm,” meddai. “Mae pobl yn cael diwrnodau anodd a diwrnodau rhwydd, ac mae’r staff yn gydnerth iawn yn hynny o beth. Maen nhw wir yn cefnogi pobl i fyw’n dda.”

Roedd yr arolygiad hefyd yn cydnabod sawl maes ymarfer rhagorol, gan gynnwys cymorth cyfathrebu a Chefnogi Ymddygiad yn Gadarnhaol (PBS), a ddisgrifiwyd yn elfennau “canmoladwy” gan yr arolygwyr. Roedd yr adroddiad yn canmol y ffordd yr oedd y staff yn deall ac yn ymateb i ffurfiau cyfathrebu gwahanol, gan helpu pobl i deimlo eu bod yn cael eu clywed a'u deall, a'u bod yn ddiogel.

“Rwy’n meddwl bod cyfathrebu llafar yn ganran mor fach o gyfathrebu,” meddai Carly. “Weithiau, mae rhywun sy’n treulio’r diwrnod yn ei ystafell wely yn dal i gyfathrebu bod rhywbeth o’i le.”

Ochr yn ochr â dathlu’r canlyniad, mae tîm Wrecsam eisoes yn canolbwyntio ar yr hyn sy’n dod nesaf. Yn ystod y flwyddyn nesaf, byddant y gweithio gyda thîm arfer gorau MacIntyre, a phrosiectau cyfredol yr Hwb Arloesi, i gryfhau cymorth cyfathrebu fwy fyth, gan hefyd ddatblygu arweinwyr ymarfer Cefnogi Ymddygiad yn Gadarnhaol i helpu staff i barhau i ddysgu a thyfu.

“Rydyn ni am uwchsgilio a meithrin staff yn lleol,” meddai Carly.

Mae yna ddigon yn digwydd y tu hwnt i’r arolygiadau hefyd. Rydym yn falch o rannu’r newyddion bod cartref newydd ar fin agor yr haf hwn i gefnogi pedwar unigolyn wrth iddynt setlo i’w cartrefi a’u cymunedau eu hunain.

“Mae gan un gŵr ddiddordeb mawr mewn podlediadau a’r radio,” meddai Carly. “All e ddim aros i fynd i’r afael â phethau.”

Nododd yr adroddiad y ffocws cryf ar helpu pobl i feithrin hyder, perthnasoedd, a chysylltiadau â’r gymuned, gan gydnabod yr effaith gadarnhaol y mae hyn yn ei chael ar annibyniaeth pobl a’u hymdeimlad o berthyn.

Mae’r canlyniadau diweddaraf yn adlewyrchiad o ofal, cysondeb, a gwaith caled pob aelod o’r tîm yn Wrecsam o ddydd i ddydd. Ni allem fod yn fwy balch o’r hyn y maent wedi’i gyflawni, nac o’r eiliadau cyffredin, y perthnasoedd a’r cyfleoedd sy’n sail i’r sgôr.
