Sohail gives back

7 August 2026
News

Sohail, from Leicester, never forgot the kindness and support shown to a relative by LOROS Hospice.

His determination to help others was strengthened after he spent time in hospital himself last December, where he unexpectedly met an old school friend who is now living with cancer.

So this year, when he decided to raise money, LOROS were the obvious choice.

At MacIntyre's Easter event, Sohail volunteered to be the goalkeeper in a penalty shootout, with friends, family and supporters sponsoring his efforts. Together they helped him raise money for LOROS, which provides free hospice care and support for people with terminal illnesses and their families across Leicestershire and Rutland.

He raised £176 for LOROS and visited their headquarters in Leicester recently to present the cheque and celebrate the difference his fundraising will make.

As well as raising money for LOROS, Sohail set aside a separate collection to buy his friend a gift voucher, hoping to brighten what has been a difficult time.

Sohail's story reminds us that acts of kindness often grow from personal experiences. By turning difficult moments into something positive, he's helping ensure other families receive the same care and compassion that meant so much to his own.
