Hey Mr DJ!

25 March 2024
News

In this week's Everyone Everywhere, we hear about Jac, who moved into his own flat last year with MacIntyre's support.

A gifted DJ

Jac loves music and DJing – he has all the equipment!

Whenever there is something to celebrate, Jac brings his DJ equipment along and makes people feel really special – it turns birthdays into a real celebration.

Stretching his talents

We wanted to think about how he could use this passion to bring joy to people other than his family and the nearby neighbours. Jac can be quite a shy person so it needed to be something he was comfortable with but also help him to stretch his talents.

A party in Wrexham

We found that a party was being organised in nearby Wrexham and they didn’t have a DJ! We thought it would be a great opportunity for Jac to DJ for people he didn’t really know.

Jac was a bit nervous but was keen to give it a try, and… it was fantastic!

Jac took all his stuff and set up himself. He took the microphones for people to do karaoke. He asked everyone what they wanted to listen to. He planned in advance and asked people to put their requests in. Everyone thanked Jac for a brilliant night.

Another step on the path

This has been another step on the path for Jac to increase his confidence and independence. We've noticed this in little ways. It was a huge step to move from home to having his own flat and now Jac has made his own friends and his circle has widened. Jac and his family are thrilled with how confident he has become – initially he was so quiet, now he is secure enough to decide the important things in his life – who is going to support him, when and how.

I had the chance to meet new people and different people. I enjoy getting out. I do a lot with my family but this is nice because it’s different and it’s DJing. I really like living in my new flat because I feel I have got my independence but there’s help there when I need it

     Jac

What next?

This opened up opportunities with Jac's passion for music. Now he’s planning to be a resident DJ somewhere and we are helping him to look at how he can do this.
