As the year turns, we’re reflecting on just a few of this year's milestones.
Families Week
Families week in April brought tea, conversation and connection.
Spring saw tea parties bloom across the country as we invited families of the people we support to join us for relaxed afternoons filled with conversation, cake, and the kind of informal connection that often leads to the best relationships. Our gatherings gave families a chance to chat with staff, share experiences, and celebrate their loved ones' achievements.
The Marjorie Newton Wright Awards
Early summer carried us into our annual Staff Awards celebration in June. Individuals and teams from across MacIntyre were recognised for their exceptional work in a number of categories. We think of these awards as MacIntyre's Oscars and they remind us just how much commitment and creativity staff show every day.
A new term
Having said goodbye to the young people who left our School and No Limits provisions at the end of summer, we welcomed in a new academic year with our conference for the Children and Young People division. The day brought together people from across the division for learning and celebration, all with a strong focus on ensuring young people’s voices stay central to what we do.
Intensive Interaction Week
October saw us celebrate Intensive Interaction Week, sharing expertise and reflecting on relationships built using this approach to communication. And we were absolutely delighted when our very own Charles Chirikeni won Practitioner of the Year award from the national governing body, the Intensive Interaction Institute.
Safeguarding - Prevention
As 2025 moved into its final stretch, November’s National Safeguarding Week offered us space for reflection around best practice. We explored the positive impact of providing trauma-informed support, heard from the CEO of the Ann Craft Trust, delivered a webinar, and provided resources to reinforce our shared responsibility for safety and wellbeing. The week highlighted that safeguarding isn’t a standalone theme but a thread that runs through every aspect of our work.
Scratching the surface
These moments just scratch the surface of MacIntyre's journey this year, which has been shaped by connection, learning and recognition. They reflect the strength of our staff, the trust of the families whose loved ones we support, and the way in which the people who draw on our support are at the heart of everything we do.
Our Jubilee
MacIntyre is 60 in 2026! Looking back to what people have achieved this year makes us confident that next year will be even better.
