Michael’s all moved in

27 February 2025
News

Michael recently moved to his new home with MacIntyre.

Michael used to live in his own flat but, when his health started to deteriorate, he was admitted to hospital. When planning for his discharge it was considered that Michael needed some additional support and that his flat was no longer suitable. To make Michael’s move as seamless as possible MacIntyre’s local manager, Raj, quickly developed a relationship with Michael and his family and also built connections with his GP and other local support teams to ensure there was as much continuity as possible

Michael’s new team at MacIntyre worked closely with him to build relationships and trust, finding out about Michael’s interests and passions and the people and things that were important to him.

We recognised that routine was important to Michael. Working alongside Valentina, MacIntyre’s PBS Lead, the team supported Michael to adapt to his new home where he now spends time with the other people who live there, sharing a meal, and enjoying the garden.

Michael absolutely loves socialising with people, and will happily talk to anyone about anything – he loves war films, watching the news and biscuits. When he first moved in, Michael was anxious in walking about the house, but as he spends more time in his new home, he has become so much more confident and loves sharing his stories with everyone listening.

Raj said:

“When Michael moved into his new home, he didn’t have the confidence in his ability to walk, but in such a short period of time, there’s been such a change in him. He has really come out of his shell and happily walks around the house and outside. Michael loves talking and telling us his stories, and we love hearing them!”

Michael also enjoys trying new things, and recently celebrated his birthday with a lovely party, in which he made all the decisions, and enjoyed a meal at McDonald’s.

Valentina added:

“It’s fantastic to see how far Michael and his team have come in such a short period of time. It is so heart-warming to see him talking with staff with a smile on his face and joking around.”

Welcome to your new home Michael, we can't wait to see what the future has in store!
