Most people don’t notice the piano at first. It sits in the background at Oliver’s, a local Warrington restaurant.
But as the time goes on, it becomes part of everything: conversations, laughter, the rhythm of the room.
That’s Jack. He’s been playing there for the past two years, shaping the atmosphere in his own way.
He doesn’t take requests.
Instead, he plays what feels right in the moment, music he knows inside out. There’s no sheet music, no notes in front of him. Every piece is memorised, practised over and over again until it’s his. It’s not just performance. It’s presence.
Jack is in his final year studying Film and Media, and when he’s home, the piano is never far away. At home, a grand piano takes pride of place: something he worked towards with the support of Alan and Pauline, his Shared Lives carers. They’ve backed his passion for years, now it’s something he shares more widely.
In the restaurant, people might not always realise what they’re hearing.
But the atmosphere they’re enjoying?
Jack's part of creating that.
