What is Sepsis?

13 September 2019
News

Today is World Sepsis Day and to raise awareness of the condition, our Health, Dementia and Wellbeing Team have collaborated with our Keep Going Don’t Stop Group  and The MacIntyre Checkers to produce an easy read document on sepsis.

Following a report from LeDeR which highlighted Sepsis as the sixth top cause of premature death for people with a learning disability, our teams began to work together to produce a detailed easy-read document explaining the definition of Sepsis and how to spot it.

Sepsis can occur when your immune system overreacts to an infection and starts to damage your body's own tissues and organs. It is a life-threatening condition.

The Sepsis Easy Read document is now available to download from our Resources section.

Do you find our resources useful?

We would love to hear if and how our resources helped you understand subjects relating to health, dementia and wellbeing in context of learning disabilities. Please get in touch with your feedback and suggestions. You can also signup to a newsletter - we will email you once a month with news relating to health, dementia and wellbeing.

Are you looking for any resources in particular? Have you got a suggestion of a subject we should create a resource about? Please let us know.
