Working with children in 2024

2 January 2024
News

Are you looking for a new job or career change in 2024? Have you considered working with children who have learning disabilities or are autistic?

At MacIntyre, we have regular opportunities as Support Worker at our children's homes, and as teachers and teaching assistants at our school.

Our School

MacIntyre School at Wingrave, a pretty village near Aylesbury in Buckinghamshire, is a very special place. We provide education and care for children and young people aged between 10 and 19.

Whether you join us as a Teacher or as a Teaching Assistant, you will help us in our mission for every child to "Achieve Above and Beyond". And if you're looking for term-time work as a Teaching Assistant, you don't need experience, we will provide full, free training.

Our Children's Homes

MacIntyre have children's homes in Buckinghamshire, Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire.

  • Hillside in Bedfordshire is home to up to five young people who also attend the nearby MacIntyre School in Wingrave
  • Woodland View in Hertfordshire provides support for up to six young people, including one emergency placement
  • We have three residential children’s homes attached to MacIntyre School in Wingrave, Buckinghamshire

Each home is led by a Registered Manager. Additional support is provided by MacIntyre’s team of specialists including Intensive Interaction, Positive Behaviour Support and Health.

Our staff work closely with families, involving them every step of the way, sharing achievements and ensuring everyone maintains a consistent, open relationship.

The latest Ofsted report for one of the children's homes said:

Children were observed to be happy, playful and relaxed with the staff. Staff have meaningful relationships with children, and they show children genuine care and interest. Children feel secure, valued and loved.

A parent said:

It is a lovely big house. Our son has a view over the garden, like at home. He loves the swing. He will give a thumbs up and a nod because he is happy to go back.

If you would like to support children to learn new life skills, and to feel happy and valued, why not join us? We often have opportunities for Support Workers, full-time and part-time. You won't need experience, we provide full free training, including supporting you to gain your Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare.

We also have occasional vacancies for Senior Support Workers or Team Leaders, and for night shift work.
