Have a cuppa with us in April

It's National Tea Day on 21 April - what better time to celebrate Britain's favourite hot drink!

During April, we're celebrating our 60th anniversary by hosting tea parties (and the occasional breakfast party) around MacIntyre.

We're planning these to be warm and welcoming events where families, staff, and people who draw on support can come together to share stories, build connections, and enjoy each other's company over a comforting cup of tea and a delicious slice (or two!) of cake.

(MacIntyre staff: log in to our intranet to access the section below where you can download invites, recipes and everything you need to run a successful tea party.)

Learn in March

March's theme to celebrate MacIntyre's 60th Anniversary is 'Learning'

We're putting this in the context of the Five Ways to Wellbeing, and how learning can improve mental health and self-esteem.

What would you like to try that you never have before? Here are a few suggestions:

  • Research something you’ve always wondered about.
  • Learn to cook something new
  • Talk to someone whose views you disagree with, and find out why they think that way. Be willing to really listen.
  • Learn a new word
  • Find out how to make fudge
  • Learn to crochet or knit
  • Learn to fold an origami crane
  • Fix a loose cupboard hinge or something else around the home
  • Plant seeds in a windowsill pot and learn what they need to grow
  • Ask a colleague how they manage a task you find tricky
  • Learn one fact about how your brain works
  • Write a story using only six words
  • Learn a new sign in Makaton or BSL

What can you think of?

What could you do to connect? Here are a few suggestions:

  • Arrange a day out with friends you haven't seen for a while
  • Switch off the TV or put down your phone and talk or play a game with your children, friends, family or housemates
  • Visit a friend or family member who needs support or company
  • Volunteer at a local school, hospital or community group
  • Make the most of technology to stay in touch with friends and family. Video-chat apps are useful, especially if you live far apart
  • Try speaking to someone new as you go about your day
  • Ask how someone’s weekend was, and really listen when they tell you
