Places

Milton Keynes

Unity MK

Several of our team in Milton Keynes are fundraising for local charity Unity MK, which supports homeless people. There’s a Sleepout and Glasswalk(!) on Friday 6 June. MacIntyre staff taking part include Sui-Ling Tang, Andrea Parr, Jo Ellis, Rodica Burmei and others. The Haddons are also planning a sleep-out in their own garden. If you want to support the team, here’s a link to their JustGiving page.

Willen Hospice

Not content with taking part in the Sleepout, Rodica Burmei is also taking part in the Willen Hospice Midnight Moo on 20 June, walking 10 miles from 10 pm to 3 am with some of our amazing colleagues. Here’s her JustGiving page – donations welcome.

What’s going on in your area?

We know that people all around MacIntyre get involved in fundraising, whether that’s for MacIntyre, or for other worthy local causes.

And there are other events and activities taking place all around MacIntyre.

If you’d like what you’re doing to be featured here, contact [javascript protected email address] with the details.

Personal Development

HR Training

The following HR training courses have been arranged for managers. Each training session will be face to face, led by members of the HR Team. Each session will be around 3 hours – 4 hours. Priority will be given to managers who have not previously attended that particular training before.

Please talk with your line manager so they can support you to take the time to attend and to understand which session would best support your personal development and the team you work in. For example if you are a new manager then the HR Basics would be a good start as an introduction to HR and your responsibilities under MacIntyre’s HR policies and process. The other courses cover particular HR areas in more detail.

Please book the training through the LMS, which gives further details about each course, with details of the timings and venue. Each course is available in both North and South venues.

Courses available:

South

  • Investigation – Disciplinary Matters – 10 June 2025 am – The Caldecott Room, Great Holm
  • Grievance - 12 June 2025 pm – The Caldecott Room, Great Holm

If you need any support to attend or have any questions then please contact [javascript protected email address]

Recruitment

Form updates

The latest Recruitment Newsletter is available here. Note that the Interview Questions Bank and Volunteer Application Form have been updated. It’s Volunteers Week first week of June, so MacIntyre may see an uptick in interest from potential volunteers.

Please contact the [javascript protected email address] with any queries.

Employee feedback

A reminder that the Recruitment team collects feedback from employees at three points:

  1. On joining
  2. After completing probation (Managers: remember to update the LMS once probation is completed – maybe do it as you’re meeting with your team member to confirm they’ve passed their probation.)
  3. On leaving (Managers: please support your team member to complete the exit interview form for Recruitment)

The feedback at these three points really helps MacIntyre to improve the way we work with staff, and identify any issues. Reports are shared regularly with the senior leadership team.

Finance and Payroll

Payroll dates

  • Grids to be returned to Payroll by the 6/7th of the month.
  • Joiners with a start date after 15/16 of the month: Payroll will try and get them on the system and paid but cannot guarantee it, so these staff may need to wait until the following month for their first payment.
  • Leavers: please get the leavers form in ASAP so leavers do not get paid inadvertently. Final details such as extra hours, sleep-ins, annual leave adjustments can be processed nearer the pay date.

Finance

  • Petty cash returns: must be in by the 6th of the month to ensure that they can be processed in time.
  • Invoices for payment: have to be in by Monday lunchtime to get paid that week.
  • Credit cards: the deadline for getting returns back is 15th of the month.
  • Credit card limit changes: two days needed to process. Requests must be sent from the relevant manager’s email.

Participation

Last chance: book now for:

  • Inspiring Leaders
  • Marjorie Newton Wright

Remember to book your space if you've been invited to our Inspiring Leaders Conference and/or the Marjorie Newton Wright Awards on 12 June.

If you have been invited to one or both of these events, you’ll see a tile on your eLearning dashboard through which you can book.

Pay, Rewards and Employee Support

Wellbeing and Mental Health First Aiders

Did you know that in addition to MacIntyre’s Employee Assistance Programme, we have a team of Mental Health First Aiders around the organisation? Seb Moh, Quality and People Director, explains more here, and you will find the current list of Mental Health First Aiders here.

Pension Re-Enrolment

As per Julie Graves’s email to all staff on 14 May, if you have opted-out of MacIntyre’s Pension scheme MacIntyre is legally obliged to re-enrol you in September of this year. What this means for you:

Already in the MacIntyre Pension Scheme?

If you are already in the MacIntyre Pension Scheme you do not need to do anything.

If you have opted out of the MacIntyre Pension:

  • A pension deduction of 5% of your basic salary will be taken from your September salary
  • You can opt-out again - but you cannot do this until after September’s payday
  • In order to opt back out you need to email [javascript protected email address] after 25 September and before the October payday in order to be reimbursed your 5% contribution.
  • If you don’t opt-out before the October payday you would need to contact the Pension Company direct.

Further details on the intranet here.

Carers Week

It’s Carers Week from 9 – 15 June. This is for people who act as unpaid carers, whether for elderly parents, children who have disabilities or other loved ones. Some of us at MacIntyre are in this position, and it can be challenging. This extract is from the Carers Week website:

“This year the theme is 'Caring About Equality' highlighting the inequalities faced by unpaid carers, including a greater risk of poverty, social isolation, poor mental and physical health. Far too often, carers of all ages miss out on opportunities in their education, careers, or personal lives, just because of their caring role.”

You will find some useful factsheets and other support on the Carers Week website here.

Action for Happiness

The organisation Action for Happiness share a monthly calendar which contains small steps we can all take each day to improve our mental health and the happiness of those around us.

Joyful June

June’s theme is about looking out for what’s good, and you’ll find the link to the June calendar here. You can download it, subscribe to daily emails, or download the app.
