Be active

17 May 2019
News

It’s the final day of Mental Health Awareness Week and we’re finishing with a focus on ‘Be Active’ from the Five Ways to Wellbeing.

Being active means something different to everyone. It can fit into your busy days and existing commitments: from a walk in a park to hula hooping in your garden! Exercise has been shown to improve mood and has successfully been used to lower rates of depression and anxiety

One of this year’s MacIntyre’s London Marathon runners said:

“Running rules! It helped me lose a massive amount of weight & maintain it for 9 years, as well as minimise day-to-day effects of a severe anxiety disorder. Running for charities has helped make a difference to other people’s lives too. It’s win-win.”

As well as all many ad hoc activities, we have groups across MacIntyre taking part in a number of structured groups including:

  • The Milton Keynes Sports Group
  • West Cheshire Pool League
  • Warrington Bowling Club
  • Wheelchair football in Milton Keynes

Memories and Miles

This year will also see the return of the Memories & Miles events, held for the first time last year, in Bedford, Chesterfield, Milton Keynes and Warrington.

Look out for more details next week.
